Create The Perfect Outdoor Entertainment Center

Posted on

Even though the holidays just happened and we're in the middle of a cold winter, spring is right around the corner. Now is the time to plan for great outdoor cookouts and other parties for the spring and summer months. Consider these ideas to achieve the perfect outdoor entertainment center.

Start From The Ground Up - A great place to start is with the flooring. Stained wooden floors are handsome and go with any decor you'll choose for your outdoor living area. Another wonderful choice is cement. Cement is affordable and easy to care for, and it can take on any look you want it to have. Consider an old world look from tile or brick, or select the look of a cobblestone road that you would find in the olden days in Europe. The great part about cement flooring is that you can just hose it off and the stain won't be affected. In fact, age just makes faux painting look even better.

Create A Focal Point - One great focal point would be to have a huge outdoor fireplace that you would surround with outdoor furniture. Good choices are rustic wood that has been treated for outdoor use, wrought iron, or outdoor wicker. Cluster the furniture in groups that invite great conversations. When you select a table where you will eat meals, consider a round one that allows everybody to face each other for wonderful visiting. Brighten things up with colorful fabric seat cushions. Ask your builder to add a great patio cover so that the area can be used even during heavy rains. Consider having steps that take you up to the entertainment center with a retaining wall for plants on either side of the stairs.

Copy Your Kitchen - Ask the builder to incorporate an island where you and your guests can prepare meals together. It will be fun to have stools that match your other furniture to go with the island. Select state-of-the-art appliances, too, including a stove top and a refrigerator-freezer combination. Don't forget an outdoor grill besides a stove top. Choose a storage unit that is not only attractive, but that will protect cookware, dishes and other kitchen items from the weather.

The Last Touches - Think of your favorite things and decorate with those. Tile murals, hanging baskets, flower pots of different shapes and sizes all add color and personality to your entertainment area. And, don't forget to arrange for music that will enhance your parties.
